Slovakia and Singapore already have close trade relations. The EU-Singapore trade agreement will give it a big boost. With more than 400,000 registered players, association football is the most popular sport in Slovakia. Since 1993, the Slovak national football team has qualified for the Football World Cup. They arrived in the last 16, where they were beaten by the Netherlands. The most remarkable result was the 3-2 victory over Italy. In 2016, the Slovak national football team, led by head coach Jan Kozék, qualified for Euro 2016 football.
This allowed the team to reach its best place to date in the 14th world ranking of FIFA. One of the most popular team sports in Slovakia is ice hockey. Slovakia became a member of the IIHF on 2 February 1993 and has since won four medals at the World Ice Hockey Championships, consisting of 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze. The most recent success was a silver medal at the 2012 IIHF World Cup in Helsinki. The Slovak National Ice Hockey Team competed in the Olympic Games and finished 4th at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. The country has 8,280 registered players and currently ranks 7th in the IIHF world rankings. Prior to 2012, The Slovak team HC Slovan Bratislava participated in the Continental Ice Hockey League, considered the strongest hockey league in Europe and the second best in the world.  Typical memories of Slovakia are dolls in folk costumes, ceramic objects, crystal glasses, carved wooden figurines, fujaras (a popular instrument on the UNESCO list) and Valakas (an ornate people`s cap) and especially products made from corn and yarn skins, especially human figures.
