The NBA and the players` union have agreed on the principle of the start of the 2020/21 season, as well as an amended collective bargaining agreement, the two sides said Monday night. Negotiations ended shortly before the deaths of teammates Alyssa Altobelli, Payton Chester, Gianna Bryant and Gianna`s father, WNBA fan Kobe Bryant, « #GirlDad » and basketball legend. Through their individual and collective passion, skill, experience, investment and commitment, each of these individuals has had and would have continued to positively influence, transform and develop our sport. The formal negotiations that began in March 2019 and culminated in January 2020 with the implementation of this agreement represent the hard work and commitment of professional athletes, women basketball. The salary cap between the 1999 and 2005 CBA versions has not changed much. In exchange for approving the controversial minimum age of players, players received a slightly higher percentage of the league`s revenue during the new convention. In addition, the league`s maximum score decreased slightly from the 1999 CBA. Under the 2011 CBA, players received a lower percentage of the league`s revenues. In 2005, players received 57 percent of revenues, and from the new CBA, they receive about 49 to 51% of turnover.  At that time, the next debate on the CBA was set at ten years. or, if necessary, in 2017.  In 2016, the NBA and nba Players Association met to work on a new CBA approved by both parties in December of that year.
This last contract started with the 2017/18 season and runs until 2023/24, with a reciprocal opt-out after 2022/23.   On behalf of the players, this 2020 collective bargaining agreement is dedicated to them. May it protect, inspire and create opportunities for the next generation. Teams are unlikely to receive formal league numbers until the end of the week, after a final agreement has been formally reached. The current moratorium on league trades is expected to be overturned early next week — just before the NBA draft, which is scheduled for November 18.
